"The consumer complaint that comes in, we’re actually posting those details online and the business response to that. And if there are any rebuttal or back-and-fourth conversation," said Timothy Caminos, Hawaii Better Business Bureau.
It allows a consumer to track how a company handles any problems.
"It’s great for consumers because they can see first hand what the details are of the complaint are. It’s great for businesses because they get a chance to show consumers how they take care of business, how they handle things," Caminos said.
Caminos says since the BBB started doing this at the end of last year, they have gotten nothing but positive feedback, even from companies.
"Well as a business owner you should love what we’re doing because it gives you the opportunity to show your future customers and clients how you take care of your business," Caminos said.
But what about sensitive information?
"Well, consumer information is all redacted. So, anything that is personal to you, any kind of account numbers, your name, date of birth, if you had to give it to us, it’s all private," Caminos said.
As for how to check…
"So you can go any of the companies online, type in any companies’ name and it will pop up. Go to complaints, click on complaints and it’s there. Click on details and it will pop up," Caminos said.
That’s one form of help for any consumer problems you may have.
