The lawn fronting the State Capitol was covered in plastic bags Thursday afternoon, but it wasn’t the work of a litterbug.
Instead, the bags were placed on the lawn by supporters of a bill that would add a 10 cent fee to single use paper and plastic bags.
A public hearing was held this afternoon at the State Capitol regarding the bill.
Prior to that hearing, 400 bags were attached to stakes, representing the number of plastic bags a typical person uses each year.
