Agreement updates search and rescue procedures between City and Coast Guard

The city and U.S. Coast Guard has updated its search and rescue agreement.

The document updates procedures for search and rescue notification, coordination and execution among the Coast Guard, Honolulu Fire Department and Emergency Services.

"By signing this agreement today, the U.S. Coast Guard and the city recognize the need to fortify search and rescue efforts so that each parties unique capabilities and talents are fully exploited to help protect people and property," said Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle.

The agreement has not been updated since the early 90′s.
