Starting on Thursday crews will replace the section that collapsed after being hit by a truck.
Engineers determined that the piece that fell is structurally sound so it will be put back in place.
Overnight closures will be in place for freeway exits in the area from about Nov. 1 to 4.
"Our main priority was the children at the Aiea elementary school right there," said Caroline Sluyter, State Department of Transportation."We know that it was a big inconvenience for them not to be able to use the bridge. So were happy that we are able to expedite those repairs for the children."
The bonus is that work is expected to be complete by Nov. 8 and before the next UH football game at Aloha Stadium, so people who park in the area will be able to use the bridge.
The cost of the project is not yet known.
