All westbound lanes are reopened on H1 after garbage truck crashed into median

Honolulu police have reopened all westbound lanes on the H1 freeway after a garbage truck crashed into the median in Aiea Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 1:30 p.m. when an empty garbage truck heading eastbound slammed into the median prior to the Aiea exit.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center.

Road crews used a crane to remove the garbage truck from the zipper lane. Crews cleared the scene at about 7 p.m.

The garbage truck belongs to Rainbow Waste Services, LLC.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
