American Idol Kids: Lexi Hara

She’s petite and sweet.

A nine-year-old girl who started singing at the age of four is sure to impress as a young up and coming performer.

"I just sang for fun and I noticed that the more times I sing the more I get to do acting and auditions,” said Lexi Hara.

She is a three-time Don Ho’s Keiki Singing Competition winner and the youngest actress cast in the new Hawaii 5-0 pilot.  This tiny star shines brightly.

"Whenever she is reading out loud or she is presenting in front of the class she is like the hands are going you know she is expressing her self,” said her father, Kaipo Simpson.  “Lexi I can tell she has that performing arts background."

As a 4th grader at Mililani Ike Elementary, Lexi says she is a typical student that likes to do normal kid things.

"I would like to ride my bike for a little while maybe concentrate on my homework and all my grades,” she said.

But on stage, she’s got stage presence and wants to eventually share her talents with the nation by showing her stuff on the hit FOX TV show American Idol.

"Well it’s been a dream for me because I always wanted to share my talent with many other people,” she said.

She’s got six years until she reaches the show’s age of eligibility but says she already has her eye on the prize.

"I will probably audition and try my best if I don’t make it that’s ok I can probably try next year,” she said.

She hopes to pursue a career as an actress in addition to winning the American Idol crown.

"I can see her going far because she has that experience she has that background and if she puts her mind to it she can do anything,” said Simpson.

"I am going to be the next American Idol and trust me I will,” she said.
