The test of a new type of weapon for the army was successfully completed overnight.
The falcon hypersonic technology vehicle 2 was launched from the pacific missile range facility on Kauai at 1:30 this morning.
The weapon travels at more than five times the speed of sound.
It landed in a target area near Kwajalein Atoll.. some 2300 miles away in less than half an hour.
The weapon was packed with sensors instead of explosives.
When fully developed.. the new system would allow our military to hit targets anywhere on earth in an hour or less.
