Bayfront Highway closed after vehicle crash brings down poles outside of Hilo

A vehicle accident on the outskirts of Hilo shut down a major highway early Saturday evening on the Big island. Just after 6 p.m. emergency crews responded to the one-car accident where a driver had crashed into a Hawaiian Electric Light Company (HELCO) transmission pole.
