Beach smoking ban passes second reading at Honolulu City Council

A measure to ban smoking at certain beach parks passed second reading Wednesday at the Honolulu City council.

Bill 72 was introduced by Councilman Stanley Chang.
This bill would "prohibit smoking" at some beaches and parks including Kapi’olani park, and Ala Moana and Sandy Beach parks.
Chang says the number one cause of litter  is cigarette butts.
Other council members believe existing laws already cover what’s in the bill.
