A section of Mamalahoa Highway on the Big Island had to be shut down again Tuesday because of a brushfire.
The closure is between the 46-mile marker and Kamani Street.
Firefighters are actually battling two brushfires in the Pahala area.
The smaller fire on the mauka side has burned 400 acres and is 60% contained.
A much larger fire on the makai side has burned 4,000 acres and is 40% contained. Firefighters will be working through the night.
The Ka’u hospital is closed and 15 patients moved, but Tuesday the hospital’s emergency room re-opened.
No injuries have been reported and no structures have been damaged in either fire.
