Two Kona women are in police custody after allegedly robbing a teenage girl.
According to police, the incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the intersection of Kealaka’a and Kealakehe Streets.
Police say a 13-year-old Kailua-Kona girl was waiting for a bus when the two women attacked her and stole her backpack.
The victim sustained a laceration to her lip and abrasions to her leg and arms.
Kona patrol officers arrested Judie Kahele, 18, and Kayla Arellano, 19, on Feb. 19.
Detectives later recovered the victim’s backpack.
Both women were charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, and fourth-degree theft.
Their bail was set at $7,000 each.
Both women remain at the cellblock pending their initial court appearance.
