(Wed., Jan. 18, 2012) — A broken valve along the Ahuimanu Force Main caused an estimated 5,000 gallon wastewater spill this morning.
The spill started at 5:55 a.m. and was contained at 6:45 a.m. The raw wastewater spilled onto ground along a stretch of Kahekili Highway near Hui Iwa Street.
The Department of environmenal services cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the affected area and notified the state Department of Health.
Warning signs will be posted alongside the affected areas.
