Caldwell endorsed by HGEA & UPW unions

HGEA and the United Public Workers union have endorsed Kirk Caldwell in the race for Honolulu mayor.

Caldwell has already been endorsed by the police and firefighters unions, giving him the support of the largest labor unions representing city workers.

It’s a familiar scenario for Caldwell, who ran in a special election two years ago.
but he says this time there will be a major difference.

"I’m starting a lot sooner, remember I had to wait for Mayor Hannemann to step down and then I had to sprint," says Kirk Caldwell, candidate for Honolulu Mayor.

Caldwell will face Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle and former Governor Ben Cayetano.

In a statement, Cayetano said "Kirk Caldwell is a nice man but he’s never had to make a tough decision during his entire political career. For the HGEA and UPW, Kirk is the perfect candidate."
