A resolution that urges the salary commission to forgo raises for city council members was passed unanimously Monday in committee.
All nine council members voted in support of the resolution.
Currently council members earn $49,800 per year.
The council chairman makes about $6,000 more.
The resolution says because of the current shortfall in city revenues any salary increase for council members is unaffordable.
