Coast Guard crews are searching the waters off Maui looking for a possible small plane down.
An FAA spokesperson says around 7 p.m. Saturday night, a cessna 172 left from Kahului Airport heading toward Molokai.
Air traffic controllers lost radar and radio contact with the plane when it was five miles north – northeast of Kahului.
There is no confirmations that there was actually a crash.
Maui county officials say there was only the pilot that was aboard the plane, and that search crews are combing the waters off the North Shore of Maui.
Officials also say the cessna was reportedly going between Maui and Molokai when it went off the radar.
