Column: Past time to give nonviolence a chance

One of the deepest frustrations I carry in my heart is humanity’s persistent default to violence in times of conflict. Despite all our progress — technological, cultural, even spiritual — we still often reach for war as the answer. Why? When we have diplomacy, understanding and the common good to lean on, why do we still choose destruction?
