Kauai firefighters are battling a brush fire that’s burned five acres in Hanapepe.
According to officials, the fire started at about 4:30 p.m. Monday in an old cane field on the mauka side of Kaumualii Highway.
Police have shut down the highway in both directions.
Officials say no structures are in immediate danger.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
