Residents in Windward Oahu are glad they got some relief today.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross spent their Saturday canvassing the damage from the storm and rare tornado that hit Windward Oahu
"We’re just going out and seeing whose experienced what and understanding the level of damage how much water was in everybody’s home," said Amy Caliboso, American Red Cross volunteer.
"We’ve lived here since 1970 and we’ve never had anything like this ever," said Diana Komagome, Kaneohe resident.
A water line left on these closet doors show just how high the water from the heavy rains filled one of the bedrooms.
"I don’t know where the water came from it just came down the street made a river," said Komagome.
Over in Kailua, Enchanted Lake residents are still in shock after a tornado touched down in their neighborhood.
"What’s a tornado doing in Hawaii? because I’ve seen water spouts fishing like that but never seen anything on the land," said Dale Zuttemeister, Enchanted Lake resident.
Piles of shingles from roofs and branches from damaged trees sit on sidewalks. Zuttemeister says his roof was damaged.
"It was just unreal because the wind was just blowing and it just look like guys somebody was dumping a dumpster in a wind tunnel or something and everything was just flying into my garage, " said Zuttemeister.
Crews from a roofing company were called to see how bad the damage was in the neighborhood.
"He’s busy today so he said he’d come back and stop by and give us an estimate hopefully that can get done real quick before more rain come,’ said Cecilia Macpherson, Enchanted Lake resident.
The stormy weather still had its affects on the island. Just before 1 p.m., a tree fell on a parked car on Kapahulu Avenue.
Officials say they do not know how many homes on Oahu were affected by the storm and it’s still too early to tell what the damage estimate would be.
