Daniel moves away from the islands, Emilia to follow the same path

Trade winds are expected to weaken slightly Saturday night as Tropical Cyclone Daniel’s remnant low continues to distance itself from the islands, and remain fairly steady before increasing slightly Tuesday and Wednesday.

The trades will deliver passing clouds and brief showers to windward and mountain areas, mainly during nights and mornings, with a slight increase in trade showers possible Monday and Monday night. No heavy showers are expected.

Tropical Storm Emilia is forecast to track west on a path very similar to Daniel, weakening to a remnant low before it enters the central Pacific on Sunday.

As Emilia’s remnant low passes south of the islands during the middle of the week, there may be some increased moisture on the windward and southeast areas of the Big Island.
