A special dedication ceremony will be held at Ewa Makai Middle School on Thursday morning.
Lawmakers and school officials will be on campus to the ceremony that includes a time capsule and performances by students.
The school opened last December and about 600 students now attend.
It also features state-of-the-art teaching tools and an eco-friendly design. It is the only school in Hawaii to qualify for the Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
