The Diamond Head Summit Trail will be closed Thursday afternoon for trail improvements.
A helicopter will bring in metal stairs and handrails as part of its third phase of trail improvements.
The trial will be closed to hikers starting at noon.
State parks officials will start escorting visitors from the trail at 1 o’clock and it will be closed for the rest of the day.
The trail will reopen on Friday at 6 a.m.
