Dozens packed Diamond Head mortuary to say goodbye to long time journalist and restaurant critic John Heckathorn.
He suffered a heart attack on Christmas day.
Heckathorn had been with Honolulu magazine for more than 30 years.
"As his daughter I know how great a mentor he was and how much he liked to educate and it’s been really great to hear the stories back of how he’s really help to mentor a whole generation of writers and other people in Hawaii. To hear these stories some of which are so entertaining and so great to hear we didn’t really realize just how far his influence had spread," says Paige Heckathorn, daughter.
Heckathorn leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
He was 65 years old.
