The state is making a change to normal traffic patterns in the Pearl City area to help ease the holiday rush.
The eastbound shoulder lane on the H-1 freeway will be open all day from Waipahu to Waimalu.
It’s normally only open during the weekday morning rush. But to help alleviate holiday traffic, the state is allowing drivers to use the lane from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday, until December 26.
