Editorial: Keep hope and faith to do good for all

It’s been a bruising holiday season, one punctuated by a particularly violent period two weekends ago. Even as traditional joyful distractions and season’s tidings rolled in, brutal reality descended — ranging from an Australia rampage at a Bondi Beach gathering meant to celebrate Hanukkah, to the shooting carnage at Brown University in Rhode Island, to the Rob Reiner family tragedy in Los Angeles. So now, more than ever on this Christmas Day, it feels important to heal, to protect our hearts and souls — and to find comfort, in ways big and small.
