HONOLULU (AP) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is giving $25,000 to a Kalihi health clinic to support an effort to improve the health of residents at a public housing complex.
The EPA said Thursday the funds will go to Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services.
The clinic will use the fund to involve the community in a campaign to mitigate the causes of indoor air pollution and reduce exposure to toxic cleaning chemicals at Kuhio Park Terrace. The program will also address poor sanitation at the housing complex.
The EPA says the campaign will aim to provide residents with necessary information and tools to take ownership of their physical surroundings. The project aims to improve the health of residents, their families and community.
