It’s graduation season and on Saturday night hundreds of Roosevelt High School seniors got their diplomas.
But not everyone was happy.
Hundreds of family and friends who wanted to attend the graduation ceremony got locked out and were even waiting in the street.
But the school’s principal says it’s standard procedure to close the gates at 6:15 sharp.
"I came from California just for this graduation and I can’t go in," said Joyce Farinas, who was there to see her grandson graduate.
"It’s standard procedure for us to open the gates at 5:30 and then we close the gates at 6:15 because this is when the graduates start to come down for their processional so we have to close the gate for security reasons as well," said Roosevelt High School Principal Ann Mahi.
Some of the people locked out were especially mad because they paid $15 per ticket and were told it was part of a school fundraiser.
But the principal says they never charge for graduation ceremony tickets, and the students are given several tickets for family and friends.
