Family, friends gather to remember Hawaii broadcast legend Jack Kellner

Family, friends and co-workers celebrated the life of a Hawaii broadcast legend Sunday.

Jack Kellner, whose voice long time viewers of KHON2 may remember, spent most of his life as a radio and television journalist.
He was one of the original "Poi Boys" on KPOI radio.
During his career he interviewed Presidents Nixon and Reagan.
He also covered significant stories in Hawaii’s history.

"He was a tremendous teacher and he mentored a lot of people, you look around your newsroom and the people who have been there for awhile, will say Jack taught me how to be a journalist and I think that was one of his strongest traits," said Kellner’s friend Don Robbs.

Kellner passed away at the beginning of this year.
He was 75.
He leaves behind his wife, children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
