A coffee maker that was accidentally left on destroyed a Maui home Friday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to the single-story home around 1:00 p.m. at Huna Wai place in Haiku.
The fire was contained to the kitchen and crews had the flames under control within 20 minutes.
A 36 year-old man who lives in the home was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. His mother, who also lived at the home is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Damage is estimated around $40,000 to the structure and contents.
