According to Hawaiian Telcom officials, two fiber optic cables were damaged in a brushfire on Molokai – causing phone service to be disrupted for Molokai and Lanai residents.
Officials say that approximately customers on Molokai and Lanai are affected.
They say these residents can use their LAN lines but are unable to call numbers which are not on their island.
Hawaiian Telcom has sent crews to work on repairing the cables and hope to have the problem resolved as soon as possible.
