A small fire lead to the evacuation of the Makiki Zippy’s tonight.
The fire department says a malfunctioning ventilation fan on the roof rubbed against some wood that started to smolder. It started a little before 7:45 p.m. and was extinguished a few minutes before 8 p.m. There were no injuries and the damage is estimated at $2,000.
The restaurant is back open for business.
