Firefighters battling a brush fire on Leeward coast

Fire crews are busy on the Leeward coast as they continue to fight a large brush fire.

The fire broke out around 3:30 Saturday morning.

Fire officials say it started near the restrooms at Yokohama Beach Park and moved up the ridgeline.

The blaze that has burned about 500 acres so far and it’s about 80% contained.

No homes or structures are threatened at this time.

Yokohama Beach is closed until further notice.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
