First confirmed Japan tsunami debris found in Hawaii

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says a blue plastic bin found off Makapuu is a piece of tsunami debris from Japan.

It is the first debris to wash ashore in Hawaii that has been confirmed to be from the March 2011 tsunami.

It was retrieved by the Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory and bears the name of a Japanese company, who used it to transport seafood.

There were no alien species found on the bin.
