Flags to fly at half-staff Monday for former Big Island mayor

Flags will fly at half-staff Monday in honor of former Big Island mayor, Herbert Matayoshi.

The flags will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Matayoshi passed away earlier this month. He was Big Island’s second elected mayor in 1974 and served until 1984.

A celebration of life will be held in Honolulu Monday night. Another service will be held in Hilo August 15.
