The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued flood advisories for three islands.
The advisories are for Hawaii Island (until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday), Maui (3 p.m.) and Kauai (3:45 p.m.)
At 11:36 a.m., satellite and radar imagery showed heavy downpours developing near Kona Village Resort, or about 10 miles north of Kailua-Kona on Hawaii Island. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary. Other heavy showers are expected to over the slopes during the afternoon as well. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa Beach Resort, Waikii, Saddle Road Junction, Puuanahulu, Puako, Kawaihae and Kamuela.
At 11:56 a.m., radar showed heavy showers that were nearly stationary over the slopes above Hamoa and Hana on Maui. Other heavy showers are expected to develop near Ulupalakua during the afternoon. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Kula, Makena and Hana.
At 12:39 p.m., radar showed very heavy downpours extending across the eastern part of Kauai from near Kapaa to near Koloa and Poipu. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Kawaihau, Wailua, Kapaa and Anahola.
All advisories may be extended if heavy rain persists.
