Forbes: Honolulu second most expensive vacation spot

A new ranking of America’s most expensive cities to visit puts Honolulu near the top.

According to Forbes magazine, Honolulu is the second most expensive vacation spot, based on hotel room rates.

New York beat Honolulu, averaging nearly$ 200 a night.

Boston, Santa Barbara and Washington, D.C. round out the top five.

2009 saw dramatic decreases in hotel room rates.

Those rates began to rise in 2010 and have climbed 20-percent in Honolulu so far this year.
