SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The University of Hawai’i conducted its annual Pro Day for draft eligible football players in conjunction with San Diego State’s Pro Day, Tuesday on the SDSU campus. Ten former Warriors participated and were put through various tests for dozens of scouts and player personnel from nearly every NFL team.
Among the recent UH alumni participating were defensive back Mike Edwards, long snapper Luke Ingram, punter Alex Dunnachie, defensive lineman Paipai Falemalu, linebacker Daryl McBride, Jr., defensive back Leroy Lutu, running back Sterling Jackson, wide receiver Darius Bright, and defensive lineman Haku Correa. Edwards, Ingram, Dunnachie received the most interest from the scouts as all three participated in the NFL Combine several weeks ago.
Each participant was measured and went through various skills tests including the vertical jump, broad jump, 225-pound bench press, 40-yard dash, pro agility drill, and 3-cone drill as well as various position drills.
For the past several years, the Warriors conducted their Pro Day at the Home Depot Center, but this year moved to the SDSU campus. The NFL Draft is April 25-27 at Radio Music Hall in New York City with the with the first round taking place April 25, followed by the second and third rounds on April 26. Rounds 4-7 will be held April 27.
A UH athlete has been selected in 11 of the past 13 drafts, including a school-record five picks in 2007. Last year, only one Warrior was selected — linebacker Aaron Brown, who was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round.
