Four Castle students arrested on suspicion of burglaries

Honolulu police believe they’ve caught the suspects responsible for numerous burglaries in Windward Oahu over the past three months.

The suspects are four Castle High School students and were arrested on campus over the past two days.

Police say they got a break this past weekend after three of the teens were arrested during a burglary.

Investigators then found evidence allegedly linking the three teens, and a fourth to other burglaries.

"Well I believe they came in through my sliding door here," said Kaneohe resident Many Dahlin.

Manu Dahlin recounts what happened several weeks ago.

"I was cooking and I wanted to go on the laptop to find a recipe, and hey where’s the laptop?" said Dahlin.

His HP laptop was gone.

"It was a nice one. At least I thought it was," said Dahlin.

Also gone — his Apple iHome speaker system.

Dahlin believes the burglars entered through this sliding door that’s usually guarded by their guard dog.

"She could’ve been sleeping," said Dahlin.

And just when he thought the stolen items were gone forever, Dahlin got a call from police.

Turns out — police believe Dahlin’s home was one of eight in Kaneohe and Kailua burglarized by some students from Castle High School.

"Sometimes you don’t think the cops are doing anything and next thing you get a call from a detective. Yeah, right on HPD!" said Dahlin.

Police arrested four students over the past two days on campus in connection with multiple home break-ins.

Three of them are 16-years-old, and the other is 17.

"Their parents must be very disappointed," said Dahlin.

Sources say many of the burglaries happened during the after school hours, and that three of the teens were also arrested for having marijuana.

"It’s irritating because these are kids, and they’re doing it for fun," said Dahlin.

Sources say the suspects are student athletes, and they call themselves "Cash Crew."

"They have a name!" said Dahlin.

Police recovered some of the stolen items including computers, game consoles, and other electronic equipment.

Dahlin got his iHome back, but not his laptop.

"It has all the wedding pictures, our newborn pictures, so that kind of sucks," said Dahlin.

Despite that, Dahlin says the arrests do give him some sense of closure.

The teens were released to their parents after being booked at the Kaneohe substation.

Castle’s principal says — because the alleged crimes happened off-campus, the school will not take any disciplinary action.
