Four suspects wanted in Maui robbery

Maui police are searching for four men who allegedly attacked and robbed a tourist in Kihei.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Thursday at Kamaole Beach Park III.

According to police, a 46-year-old male visitor from Kansas City, Missouri was sitting on his rented moped in the parking lot and was allegedly attacked by four males between the ages of 27 to 35.

One of the suspects accused the victim of stealing the moped then punched him in the jaw. The victim fell to the ground where he was repeatedly punched and kicked by all four male suspects.

Police say one of the suspects reached down and pulled the victim’s gold, rope chain from his neck and fled on the moped. The other male suspects got into a small sports car and fled the scene on South Kihei Road.

The victim sustained bruising and swelling to his face, and refused medical treatment at the scene.
