On Thursday, July 19, we will stage our annual back to school Lokahi telethon right here at our KHON2 news studio.
And again, the wonderful folks from Fantastic Sam’s will be manning the phones.
But their commitment goes even beyond that.
It’s business as usual at Fantastic Sam’s on Waimanu Street.
But there will be a major switch in duties later this week.
Stylists will be answering phones to take your Lokahi pledges.
"We’re a locally owned and operated franchise company and here’s an opportunity for us to help some of the people in the community,” said Chad Nelson of Fantastic Sam’s.
The telethon itself is on Thursday but on Wednesday, "What we’re going to do on Wednesday is from 9AM to 12PM, right here at the 1216 Waimanu street location, we’re going to be giving away free haircuts to everyone that comes in with a donation for the Lokahi Giving Project,” said Nelson.
You heard right.
Stylists are donating their time and their tips to help out the Lokahi back to school project.
And they’ll be here at 5 a.m.
"It’s early but they love to do it. In fact, when we did the last telethon during the holidays, they said when can we do this again. So here we go again and we plan on being involved as long as we’re able to,” said Nelson.
