Funeral for Hawaii man shot in Waikiki McDonald’s

KANEOHE, Hawaii (AP) – A funeral is being held for the Hawaii man a federal agent allegedly shot in a Waikiki McDonald’s restaurant.

The family of 23-year-old Kollin Elderts will receive visitors at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary in Kaneohe Wednesday. A funeral service and private burial will follow.

Elderts was shot in the chest during the Nov. 5 altercation in the tourist district.

State Department Special Agent Christopher Deedy has been charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. The 27-year-old agent was in Honolulu to help with security at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

He was released after posting $250,000 bond.

He’s expected to be arraigned Thursday in Honolulu District Court.
