Gingrich to make campaign stop in Maui

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will make a campaign stop on Maui this weekend.

On Saturday, Gingrich will meet with local GOP activists.

His second public event is at a prep school in Makawao Monday morning.

A campaign spokesman says the purpose of the trip is fundraising.

Critics point out that the Hawaii campaign stop coincides with Gingrich’s 11th wedding anniversary.

Key members of his staff resigned in June after Gingrich took a break from campaigning to go on a cruise with his wife.
