Maui boy and Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino is being honored for his accomplishments on and off the baseball diamond.
At a proclamation ceremony was held Monday afternoon, Governor Neil Abercrombie proclaimed November 21 as Shane Victorino Day in the state of Hawaii.
Victorino presented the governor with last year’s All-Star Game practice jersey, which he autographed.
Shane also let the public in on a dream of his that he previously shared with the governor.
"I guess i’ll keep our little secret that we talked about my dream of building wonderful baseball complexes in Hawaii. It’s a big dream it’s a goal of mine it may be a long shot but I’m determined to try to make it happen," he said.
Shane and his wife Melissa established the Shane Victorino Foundation last year, promoting opportunities for children in Hawaii and Philadelphia.
