Governor: Hawaii flags to be flown at half-staff

HONOLULU (AP) – Gov. Neil Abercrombie has ordered that all Hawaii flags at state offices and agencies are to be flown at half-staff Sunday.

Hawaii and U.S. flags are to be flown at half-staff in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

President Barack Obama says in a proclamation that Americans are encouraged to display the U.S. flag at half-staff from their homes and businesses Sunday.

Honolulu police on Monday are to conduct a procession for Police Week on Beretania Street to honor police officers killed in the line of duty.

A service and candlelight vigil are to take place at the state capitol.

The service is open to the public.
