The governor’s suggestion on Tuesday that groups stop feeding the homeless in parks continues to raise eyebrows.
The governor spent part of Wednesday morning talking to students at St. Francis School in Manoa.
One student asked how people and communities are supposed to help the homeless if not with food.
The governor says we need to help change the mindset of many homeless.
"If you just feed their body and their soul remains barren, if it remains empty if it starves if your soul is starving, if your sense of self is starving, you’re not being fed at all," Abercrombie said.
Where and how to feed people is one of several points in the governor’s 90-day plan to help the homeless.
The plan centers around better coordination of existing services and cleaning up public spaces.
