According to officials at the City’s Department of Environmental Services, about 1,700 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled out of a manhole and into a storm drain that leads to the Wahiawa Botanical Gardens.
Officials say the spill was caused by a grease clogged an 8-inch vitrified clay pipe on California Avenue.
ENV has notified the state Department of Health. The affected area along the road has been cleaned, disinfected and deodorized. Crews will initiate signing within the gardens at first light.
