Hawaii companies featured in APEC gift boxes

HONOLULU (AP) – Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation delegates will receive gift boxes featuring products from 14 Hawaii companies.

The APEC Hawaii Host Committee will present the 9,500 gift boxes to government officials, business leaders and global media when they arrive for the summit next week.

Included in the APEC swag will be Hawaiian sea salts, taro pancake mix, Hawaiian honey and a CD of local music.

The local companies include Hawaiian Body Products, Hawaiian Host, and Island Vintage Coffee Company. The gifts will be presented in a box designed by Jon Duarte Design Group.

Host Committee Chair Peter Ho says the gifts allow APEC guests to bring a bit of Hawaii back home.

President Barack Obama and leaders from the other APEC economies will also receive a painting by local artist Kelly Sueda.
