Hawaii company releases electronic shark defense system

Ever since the blockbuster "Jaws" was released in 1978, ocean users have been talking about a shark repellent.
It’s no longer talk.
The electronic shark defense system or ESDS sends electric pulses through the water that interfere with a shark’s sensory system and keeps them away.  It’s a small device worn on the ankle.

"Anybody who goes into the water — anybody who swims, surfs, standup paddle board, body boarders divers," said Collin Kobayashi of 3D Innovations.

Several thousand devices have been built and are selling for $299 without a leash and $335 with a leash.  A similar device called the "Shark Shield" was sold in Australia for over $700.

For more information on the device go to www.3d-innovations.com/esds.html
