Hawaii gas prices 50 cents more per gallon than last year

Gas prices rose throughout most areas over the last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. 

Today, the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.24 a gallon, three cents more than a week ago, 17 cents more than a month ago and 50 cents more than year ago. 

Honolulu’s average price rose four cents over the past week to $4.13 a gallon. That price is 20 cents more than a month ago and 50 cents higher than this time last year.  In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.45 a gallon, four cents more than last week, 19 cents more than last month and 71 cents higher than this time last year. Wailuku’s average is $4.43 a gallon, two cents more than last week, four cents more than last month and 42 cents higher than on this date last year.

Hawaii continues to have the highest gas prices in the U.S., followed by California at $4.14 and Alaska with a $4.00 state average.
