"I didn’t expect that great of a feedback of course when the elimination came around…I am not gonna lie I was shocked too I felt I gave my all in that performance and I felt good," Tadeo said.
Apparently good wasn’t good enough. On Thursday night, American Idol judges were not unanimous in their decision, but decided to eliminate Tadeo old from the competition.
"I am doing great, I am kinda bummed a little bit, but I feel like I sang really well last night and I am happy with how I sounded and I am going to be okay for sure," Tadeo said.
The 23-year-old department store worker, who moved to Nevada to pursue his singing career, says making it to the Hollywood Round last year and moving forward to the Top 40 this year was an incredible achievement.
Whether he will do it again is uncertain.
"I feel like maybe its just the end of that journey and its time for me to move on with other things, but who knows maybe," Tadeo said.
The Waiakea High School graduate says singing saved his life after he found himself on a dead-end street a few years ago.
"It completely brought me on the right path and all these good things started happening," Tadeo said.
Good things like meeting his idol, Mariah Carey, and many others.
"I am glad that I made a whole bunch of new friends from all over the country," Tadeo said.
Tadeo received a standing ovation after his performance of New York State of Mind Thursday night and perhaps he will have many more in his future.
"I am leaving this whole thing super happy and proud of myself," Tadeo said.
