Hawaii’s beach water is among the cleanest in America.
That’s according to the Natural Resources Defense Council’s new report.
97 percent of the water samples taken in Hawaii had less bacteria than allowed by the state, that’s the fourth cleanest water in the nation, behind New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Oregon.
Kauai’s Lumahai Beach, Kalihiwai Bay and Waimea Recreation Pier State Park had the highest contamination rate.
Most of the contamination occurred after heavy rain when brown water advisories are commonly issued.
